Masters of Wine :

A Hong Kong resident for 30 years, Debra Meiburg is an award-winning author, TV personality, international speaker, and a leading voice in wine education in Greater China. Debra was named Entrepreneur of the Year (Women of Influence) by the South China Morning Post & the American Chamber of Commerce as well as ranked 7th Most Powerful Woman in Wine by The Drinks Business magazine. Debra is wine consultant for Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair and in 2016 appointed incoming Chair of the Education Committee for the Institute of Masters of Wine. Debra is producer and host of several documentaries and TV shows, including Taste the Wine which is broadcast in 26 countries, as well as Grape Moments, a video series broadcast via taxis to 70 million monthly viewers in China. She also hosts an online video series called Meet the Winemaker and has a monthly column in the South China Morning Post, among other publications. She judges many wine competitions annually and co-founded the world's first truly pan-Asian wine competition, the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition. Her suite of award-winning wine educational books and tools are currently distributed on four continents and her five-volume book series, Debra Meiburg's Guide to the Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Taiwan Wine Trades, has firmly established Debra as a key voice in the Asian wine trade.

Born in France, Gerard moved to England in the mid-1980s where he embarked on a successful career as a sommelier. His titles include: Best International Sommelier for French Wines 1992, Best Sommelier of Europe 1996, Best Sommelier in The World 2010.

Gerard has won several awards including: The Marques de Cacares Award in 1993, The Dom Perignon Cup in 1996, The Special Catey 2010, The International Wine Challenge Personality of the Year in 2010. The Harpers Wine and Spirits Magazine Personality of the Year in 2011, Imbibe Industry Legend in 2011, Decanter Man of the Year in 2013, Harpers Wine and Spirits Magazine Best Ambassador/Communicator for French Wines 2013 and The Wine & Spirit Ambassador Catey in 2014.

Gerard is currently the only person in the world to be simultaneously a Master Sommelier, Master of Wine and Wine MBA.

Justin started his own consultancy business (www.thehivewine.com) in 2012 and advises a wide range of wine businesses around the world, helping them to maximise their potential. Justin's major client is Laithwaite’s Wine (aka Direct Wines), the world’s largest and most successful Direct-to-consumer wine business, where he spent 3 years as the Global Wine Director. Prior to joining Laithwaite’s, Justin spent 14 years as a wine buyer in the UK off-trade, including stints at supermarket chains Safeway and Sainsbury’s. This culminated in almost 5 years in charge of the wine department at Waitrose, the UK’s most successful premium supermarket where he led the team that garnered, and continues to garner, so many awards.
In his early life, he worked in wine shops, ran a wine school, worked as a cellar-hand and assistant winemaker in 4 different countries. Since 2007, Justin has produced his own wine (www.domaineofthebee.com) from 4 hectares of vines in the Roussillon region of the South of France, near the village of Maury.

Roman Horvath is the Winery Director of Domäne Wachau. Roman joined the Domäne Wachau in 2004 where he has been responsible for the successful restructuring and strategic re-positioning of the winery. Domäne Wachau now is among the leading wine producers in Austria and named as the best cooperative in the world. Before making his home in the Wachau, he worked in the wine trade as well as wineries in Chile and France. He was the second Austrian to complete the Master of Wine Programme.

Markus Del Monego was born in Basle in Switzerland in 1966 and grew up in South Baden in Germany. In 1985 he started a hoteliers career in houses such as the Dorint Spa Hotel in Bad Brückenau, the Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel in Hamburg, the Park Hotel in Bremen and the Savoy Hotel in London. In June 1998 in Vienna Del Monego became the first, and to date only German World Sommelier Champion. A few months later in Japan he became Master of Sake – Kiki Sakeshi. In 2003 in London he passed the Master of Wine exam. He is also a sworn expert for the evaluation of wine for the chamber of commerce and industry in Essen.
